5th Edition
This is the 5th edition of SpaceFold a newsletter with resources, best practices, and thought leadership to help the journey of founders and emerging professionals.
Welcome
It's me, Julius Alejandro, your residential entrepreneur, strategist, and educator, and I decided to start a bi-weekly newsletter called SpaceFold. What's the meaning behind the name, SpaceFold? I'm a big sci-fi nerd! It comes from the faster-than-light travel you watch in sci-fi shows. For example, traveling from Earth to Mars would take about seven months. Theoretically, you can fold closer the literal space between Earth and Mars so that it would be instantaneous.

Passion to Career
From 2018 to this newsletter, my career jobs have been through direct hire because of my relationships and skills. I’m fortunate to have a robust and holistic network I built for over a decade that crosses different industries and sectors. The glue is authentic relationship management.
Below is a virtual workshop I did with the REC Innovation Lab before they hired me as an adjunct faculty in entrepreneurship. It’s an introduction to fostering your professional network.
What’s Happening…
I have taken June as a time to focus on my mental wellness since I have been nonstop since the beginning of 2023. Because of a friend, a fellow entrepreneur, who realized I was going through burnout and actively engaged me to ensure I was okay. I took it to the heart of the kindness and care in how to better myself.
I knew it was going to take a while to turn routine into a habit, according to a Harvard Business Review article. “Eyal explained that a habit is a behavior done with little or no thought, while a routine involves a series of behaviors frequently, and intentionally, repeated. A behavior has to be a regularly performed routine before it can become a habit at all.” I had to be SMART (Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant, Time-Bound) about developing a healthy habit to mitigate burnout. Research especially states that it takes an average of 59 to 70 days to develop a habit. So I started with these two:
Morning habit: Stretch exercise, meditation, and Chess puzzles
Active: Minimum of 3 a week: jogging, gym, boxing, and/or yoga
Journaling: Highlight themes in words and phrases for insight
Friends: Contact either by phone/FaceTime or meet up with 2 friends
Another important aspect is asking my inner circle and those I trust to provide me with 360 feedback through one-on-one conversations on my personal and professional progress. The questions I asked are about my behavioral patterns since my outcomes are directly tied to them. It’s like treating the cause, not the symptom method.
